Should the sale and consumption of alcohol – the world’s favourite drug – be further

Alcohol is just as potentially addictive as many illegal drugs. Those who do become addicted to alcohol often lose their marriages, jobs, families, even their lives. A large proportion of homeless people find themselves in that position as a result of their alcoholism. Any drug this addictive and destructive should be illegal.
Alcohol is a contributory factor to a huge proportion of crimes. Exact figures vary from country to country, but in many countries alcohol is a contributory factor in 60-70% of violent crimes, including child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and murder. Alcohol is far and away the leading cause of public disorder, street fights, etc. In short, alcohol is one of the prime causes of violence and crime in modern society, and its banning would reduce the incidence of these crimes at a strike

This is good topic to discuss.First of all alchol is one of the biggest revenue generating industry for the Govt.Indirectly they give employment to hundreds of ppl.Inspite of all those when you ban the alchol,it mite lead to blooming of the illicit arrack industry which is more dangerous than the alchol industry.Ppl mite have heard about the recent incident of 100 lives lost near Karnataka. All those who lost their lives are ppl who have consumes illicit arrack because it is cheaper than the alchol. But they didn't realise the consequences.Even today substances like Narcotics and california drops are available in India. When you ban the alchols, ppl using the these substances will become more. You can't stop someone from consuming something and esp this habit is dangerous in this business.Govt can ban drinking in Public means ppl who want to drink must use only the bars or any private places.Drunk & Drive must be severely punished.Normal fine won't stop this habit.Increasing the price of alcohol can stop some ppl from taking it.

very good topic but tell me does anyone ask anyone to drink or smoke.but its on personal discretion.if a man or woman takes it ,it is them who have to take the decision to take it or not to take it.and it is the largest revenue generating commodity .and iff government bans it lakhs off people will loose job .rather than stopping production everyone should try to spread awareness about the excessive drinking and their ill effects and should force government that the minors in any case should not allowed anywere belonging to any strata.and if slackness happens the supplier or the distributor should be punished.
