Should mobile phones be banned in colleges?

With the increasing craze of smartphones among youth..majority of the time is spent on mobile phones using various apps and social sites. Do you think mobile phones should be banned in colleges? Does it distracts you in your lectures?

Depending on the purpose of mobile the further action of banning should be decided.If mobile is used for good purpose like students informing parents there whereabouts then i should not be a issue.But if students use it to play loud music,share or see obscene videos,exam related maul practices then certainly mobile phones should be banned.

I believe moblies should never be banned but there need to some restictions on using mobile phones in school o colleges. There should be mobile jammer in the class to ensure that students cannot use their phones during leacture.
