should homework be abolished

homework is more of a burden than any help to the students. Keeping this in mind, anyone can come to the conclusion that homework should be abolished. To compensate the loss, school hours can be increased. It may also help if only four or five periods are held in class, so that students can understand and memorize the lesson then and there. In this way, students can spend appropriate time on study, and the remaining time on other healthy activities like Sports, Reading, and Writing etc.

brilliant idea..Another way teachers can be more effective is by alerting parents to their students' homework, giving parents a chance to become familiar with the material and their child's progress. This also encourages parents to become involved in the homework process. Messages tend to get lost in transit or even altered when using "pupil post" (passing verbal messages or written notes back and forth using the student as courier), and therefore direct communication is much more effective and prevents frustration all around. Methods available for directly reporting homework assignments (to both students and their parents) include the phone, email, and centralized web-pages.

Simply because some kids find homework too much to cope up with, it cannot be abolished. The school should provide some facilities, so that the kids can conveniently attend to their home work and the teachers can come willingly forward to help such students.

I think it should be abolished because of the fact that it can increases the stress problem in children. In the childhood, kids also need to spend time with their friends and relatives and should also involve in social activities or games. But they may missed that because of burden of home work.
