Should children be given the vote, with their ballots being cast by their parents until they come of age?
Many of the problems the world faces today require long-term thinking, such as climate change, falling biodiversity and meeting our future energy needs. An electorate skewed heavily towards older voters is likely to prioritise short-term reward over longer term investment, to the detriment of future generations. Demeny voting will address this issue by ensuring that all citizens have a voice, including those who will have to live with the consequences of decisions made today.

Children or minors are not allowed to enter into a legal contract because it is believed that they do not have the required mental capacity to judge the consequences of the contract. I believe that in a similar manner, children will not have the mental capacity to form rational decisions.
