The DU's VC's obsession with hurriedly forcing his pet project of semester system at undergraduate level into the bloodstream of DU, neglecting the ground reality tht how students are going to cop up with the changed situation?

Is semester system bane or boon?

its very gud to have sem system as the students will keep studying the small amount of syllabus fully rather than studying some imp que in an yearly syllabus

A sem system will undoubtedly be a boon for the students!

It will allow them to study many more subjects!

But it will also eat up on their free time!:P

Delhi University’s (DU) has made the announcement of introducing semester system from the upcoming academic session 2010-11. The semester system is already being followed at some universities like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

A section of the teaching society was not in favor of introducing the semester system at the DU. Therefore, the university was following the annual academic session since its inception in 1922. The resolution to introduce semester system at undergraduate level in the university was passed recently. The change has been recommended by both the National Knowledge Commission and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
