The right to food is a human right and is a binding obligation, well-established under international law, recognized .The right to food has also been recognized in numerous national constitutions.
Food Situation System In India: • • In India, per capita food grain consumption declined from 476 grams per day in 1990 to only 418 grams per day Among women under nourishment at the all-India Level was 36%

Agricultural sector still provides livelihood to nearly 60% of our people and remains vital for food security As pointed out by the National Commission on Farmers, we need a new deal that rebuilds hope about farming The demand side also requires renewed focus on the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) policy and the need for a supportive tariff policy to deal with import price variability.
How to fulfill right to food?
The strategies to achieve right to food includes objectives, targets
Such strategies could address all aspects of the food system, including the production, processing, distribution, disbursement, marketing and consumption of safe food
States should consider adopting and, as appropriate, reviewing a national poverty reduction strategy that specifically addresses access to adequate food.
Is India, the world's second most populous nation, facing a food crisis?
To be sure, India has not yet experienced riots over rising food prices that have hit other countries like Zimbabwe or Argentina.
More crucially, rice prices have risen by 20% and prices of certain lentils by 18%. Rice and lentils comprise the staple diet for many Indians.
Vulnerable farmers Stocks have come down over the past three years because of low production and exports Indian farmers are particularly vulnerable since 60% per cent of the country's total cropped area is not irrigated.
