Sardar Patel Institute of Technology wins the Western Regional Finals of the

CIMA Global Business Challenge 2013

Winning and Runner-up teams will compete with the finalists from South, North and East at the India finals on 6th April in Mumbai



Mumbai, March 18: Team Infinity Plus One from Sardar Patel Institute of Technology has emerged as a winner in the Western Regional Final of the CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2013 held in Mumbai. The Prodigies from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics was the runner-up team. GBC 2013 also announced two awards - Best Business Report and Best Speaker. Team B3K, BITS Pilani, Goa received accolades for the Best Business Report and Umang Khaitan from team The Prodigies won the Best Speaker’s award. The winners were declared after a close contest; Team Infinity Plus One and The Prodigies will now compete for the India finals on 6th April in Mumbai.

The 5th CIMA GBC 2013, a unique global case study competition for undergraduates, flagged off with a huge response from students across the country. After an unparalleled success for the last four years, the 5th edition of the CIMA GBC 2013, witnessed over 470 teams from various colleges of immense repute across India registering for the competition. This year’s case challenge is based on the Toy industry. The selected teams analyse, report and present their cases to these eminent judges. The Indian winners of the GBC 2013 will compete at the global level in South Africa.

The teams have exhibited solid financial analysis and research abilities in showcasing their case studies to the panel of judges. We congratulate Team Infinity plus One and The Prodigies for the India Finals.”

The Western regional finalists came from varied academic backgrounds. The eight teams who participated in GBC 2013 Western regional finals were Team B3K and The B-team from BITS - Pilani, Goa Campus; Team Innovation and Infinity Plus One from Sardar Patel Institute Of Technology; Ctrl + Alt + Del, Narsee Monjee Institute Of Management Studies ASM; The Prodigies and Tailor Made Consulting from Narsee Monjee College Of Commerce And Economics; The Strategists, St. Andrews College;

The competition was assessed by a panel of judges, namely – Mr. Sriram Kameshwar, Director, Finance & Corporate Facilities, Prudential Process Management Services India; Ms. Lata Daswani, Vice President, Finance, Barclays; Mr. Santanu Chakraborty, Head – Global Restructuring Group, India, The Royal Bank of Scotland; Mr. Nitish Kirtikar, Head – Transaction processing, Total Oil India Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Allen Andrade, General Manager Finance, BG India.
