Jaipur: Reliance Power has gained carbon credits approval from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for its 100 MW concentrated solar power project (CSP) in Rajasthan. The company in its official statement outlines the project as the world’s largest CSP project to be registered with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board.
Acquiring the CDM registration will permit the project to generate and sell certified emission reductions internationally and generate direct revenues for the company, disclosed RPower in its official release.
The project equipped with compact linear Fresnel technology is being implemented by the Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy Pvt Ltd, RPower’s wholly owned subsidiary. The company has already entered into power purchase agreement with state run NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Ltd for timeframe of 25 years.
“Through the present registration, in addition to the earlier projects allows Reliance Power a CDM registered capacity of more than 12,000 MW with a potential to 60 million carbon credits in the next 10 years,” said the company in its statement.
