Income Tax returns filed through post offices would be processed and refunds, if any, would also be settled, the IT department said on Wednesday.

Reacting to media reports that returns filed through post offices may not be processed, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, R Venkataramani said: "There is no question of not processing the returns."

"All steps as required under the IT law and procedures will be taken to process the returns and ensure follow up actions such as issue of refunds, demand notices etc," he said in a statement.
