After doing extensive research on different cellphone brands I have come to the following conclusions:
Nokia has sold more than 100 million units into the channel worldwide, and accounted for nearly 37 percent of worldwide sales during the second quarter of 2007.This is the second time in a row Nokia remained market leader.
Motorola maintained its second position with a 14.6 percent despite the fact that its product portfolio is somewhat outdated.Motorola could only remain at second positon only because due to its Moto Razr cellphone. the aggressive pricing of its phones, also helped the company to maintain this position.
However, if the company needs to maintain its second-place market share, Motorola should update the portfolio and should introduce more 3g handsets with different features in the market regularly.
Samsung, stood in third place with a 13.4 percent market share, continued strong sales and is gaining rapidly on Motorola.
That's due in large part to its Ultra II family of products, that focused on cutting-edge features like music and video, but to move ahead, the company should create more design differentiation and should lower down the prices of its cellphone a bit.
Sony Ericsson stood fourth, with a 9 percent market share, sold 24.3 million units, with several products aimed at the high-end and midrange market.
To grow moving forward,I would recommend that company starts targeting lower end market and introduce cellphones having low prices so they can reach to masses and make market for themselves.
LG was the fifth-place finisher, with a 6.8 percent market share.
The company has been very aggressive with new models of its Chocolate phone, as well as other phones in other areas of the world including India, but in order to increase market share against its competitors LG should invest more money in Research&Development of there products .
