AbstractAt present, there are so many good project
management software in domestic, but only a few of these
can manage and analysis the entire six sigma process of
project proposal, training, project selection, project
implementation and project evaluation. The reason for this
is that the diversity and uncertainty of the implementation
process lead to difficulties in information and poor
practicability. For this problem, this paper put forward a
Six Sigma Project Management and Analysis System Model.
Verification through the actual subject, the model has great
flexibility and practicality, and actualize well in the Six
Sigma Project Management and Analysis System software.

I. INTRODUCTION
Application of Six Sigma methods can improve the
capacity of project management as well as the quality
level. At present, almost all of the world's Fortune 500
manufacturing companies are beginning to implement the
Six Sigma management[1], Chinese enterprises are no
exception.
Information technology can help Six Sigma projects to
improve the accuracy of information collection, to
facilitate the statistical analysis of data, to standardize the
implementation process of Six Sigma projects, to reduce
the heavy work of Six Sigma project management.
However, Six Sigma project management is basically
uses a number of generic project management software
such as Microsoft Project 2007, can not relate to specific
work processes; The statistic and analysis of Six Sigma
project through the use of statistical analysis softwarelike
the Minitab is in a state of semi-manual, which makes
compete at home and abroad to improve the information
level of Six Sigma project management. Such as foreign
Chonghun Han and Young-Hak Lee[2] discussed an
information system, which can help enterprise and staff
carry out Six Sigma activities effectively. The system
combines the Six Sigma DMAIC model with the
multivariate statistical techniques. Domestic XiaoBin
Song[3] Conducted a study on the information system
model which integrate Six Sigma and quality
management, and then developed Six Sigma quality
information systems for miniature bearing assembling
process. However, all these studies did not cover the
whole processfrom the Six Sigma project establishment
to evaluation, and are based on the existing DMAIC
model or the fixed implementation process. They did
not consider the diversity of Six Sigma implementation
process, and is lack of flexibility and variability, can only
apply to specific industryor production field.
The author of this paper propose a method to
establish Six Sigma project management and analysis
system model, combining with the project development
of 'Six Sigma Project Management and Analysis System
soItware¨, which is the research project of China-US
J ingYi Six Sigma management joint research laboratory,
SBTI-China and North China University of Technology
cooperation. The model application in Six Sigma project
management and analysis system software verify the
feasibility and practicality of the model. The dynamic
model of that resolved the problems caused by diversity
and uncertainty during the process of Six Sigma project
implementation well.

In this paper, the Six Sigma project management and
analysis system model includes six parts. That is, simple
workflow, the project implementation dynamic model
system, analytical tools, intelligence report system, the
implementation of the project (the project team, project
training, project implementation, project evaluation) and
the user group (staff, Black Belt, consultants, enterprise
leaders and so on). As shown in Figure 1.

Among them, the simple workflow drive the
model of dynamic model system, to improve flexibility
of model. The implementation of dynamic model
system is the most important part of the model. It calls
analytical tools and intelligent report system to manage
and control the project team, project training, project
implementation, project appraisal, a series of process.
The project process needs a variety of users of the
project team to participate in.
A. Ssimple Workflow
Workflow
[4]
is the computerization or automation of
business processes. Workflow engine
[5]
is the core of
workflow, the task scheduler of project process and the
project resources distributor. The efficiency and
reliability of the workflow engine directly determine the
efficiency and performance of whole system. Simple
Workflow is a workflow, which simplifies the workflow
engine. According to analyzing and abstracting the
complex process, simple workflow system classified the
changing part and invariant part, and combined with
visualization tools, process monitoring, inquiry statistics
module to manage and optimize the project process, and
finally improve the work efficiency.
Six Sigma project implementation process is not a
process from the definition phase to the control phase, but
a complex process, which is circulatory and repeatability .
Therefore, this paper put forward that dynamic model of
the project implementation should set up in the easy
workflow to improve the flexibility of the model running.
In this paper, simple workflow system includes
workflow engine, workflow designer and process
operation to resolve logic issue of service interaction;
document processor to resolve service process logic;
application program integrated design to resolve the
problem of user assignment and permission assignment.
Among them, the core scheduling algorithm adopted
by workflow engine is PetriNet algorithm.
B. project implementation dynamic model system
Project implementation dynamic model system is the
core of the model. The traditional model of project
implementation is the DMAIC model, which is used by
many companies and projects. DMAIC is process
improvement methods consisted of five phases, which are
Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, control.
1)DMAIC extended model used by some companies,
such as DMAICQ, DMAICP(in which, Q and p is the
process of self-definition ),and so on;
2)The simple variation of the DMAIC model used
by some companies, such as standard quantitative
management scheme MIS model, and so on;
3)Different projects within the same company also
may adopt different implementation process model;
4)The running model is not static. For example, the
requirements of the project make adjustment, then local
model must change correspondingly.
In short, DMAIC model just reflects the general
implementation process. That does not accord with the
actual needs of each company and each project. The
actual project requires flexibility in implementation
process model. That is why this paper emphasis proposes
project dynamic model system on the premise of giving
six sigma project management and analysis system
model.
The dynamic model system of project
implementation includes model building, standard model,
user model, operating model and model library. It
replaces the traditional and single DMAIC model, and is

more systematic, comprehensive and flexible. It is shown
as Figure 2.

Among them, the standard model is the
standardization of the referenced model, user model is
specific model suitable for project cases, operation model
is the running model in project implementation process.
a. Structure of dynamic model system
Establish Model the standard model: In the
dynamic model system of project implementation,
standard model can use traditional DMAIC model, and
can process and modify some classical model of model
library to get a new model quickly, and even can design a
new model. At the beginning of building model, the
optional and design characteristics embody the dynamic
character of model.
Standard modeluser model: user model can be
obtained through modifying standard model. For example,
integrate phase D and M of standard model DMAIC into
new M, integrate phase A and I of standard model
DMAIC into new I, modify phase C to form S, then user
can get yourself model MIS.
User modelüoperation model: Combining with the
data of actual project, assign specific work lists, resources
and documents for every node in user model to control
and management the whole project process.

into model library Provide a reference for future projects.
b. the model characteristic of dynamic model system
The model in the dynamic model system of project
implementation include standard model, user model,
operating model. These model have the following
characteristics.
Model is dynamic. Every step in the model is
defined as a node(process). The node of model is
dynamic. Node itself, father-son relationship and
sequence relationship among different nodes, work lists,
resources, and documents in nodes can be increased,
deleted and changed. There is no invariable model, only
changing model depending on the requirements of
company and project. User can customize or modify
model to get the model you want. Node exists and is
independent of the model. It can be called by model
arbitrarily.
Model can be standardized. The work lists, resources
and documents of every node in model can be
standardized, then added standardized indicator data to
make model to be standard model. In this way, the
obtaintion of user model is on the basis of standard
model.
Standard model, the user model and operation model
are the control center of the whole project, which control
the progress of project. It can call analysis tools of six
sigma project, intelligent report system to support the
whole process from the project team, training, project
implementation to the project evaluation.
Graphical customization. The standard model and
user model are customized through the graphical tools.
It reduces the tedious operation at the greatest degree.
C. analysis tool and Intelligent report system
Analysis tools mainly include tool sets and tool
interface, which include statistical analysis tools in
DMAIC each stage. It is used to be called by the model in
dynamic model system of project implementation to
analyze the data of project. The tools are shown as figure
3.

Gantt is also one of Six Sigma project management
control tools. It is used to show project scheme (schedule,
resource scheme, cost of the scheme). The data source for
describing process in Gantt is the dynamic model data
from database. Therefore it can real-time response the
changes of dynamic model.
Intelligent report system includes two parts, project
document management and report intelligent generation.
Project document management is classified into standard
document management, project document management
and history document management. Intelligent report
generation includes template technology and automated
processing for characters, forms and images. Given the
problem of length, this part will not detail.
?. CONCLUSION
In this paper, a Six Sigma project management
model and analysis system is proposed. It provides an
idea for the information of six sigma project management,
and is realized in the six sigma project management and
analysis system. The dynamic model system of project
implementation maximum resolved the problem of low
degree of information and poor practicality caused by
diversity and uncertainty in the process of project
implementation. However, as Six Sigma project
management model and analysis system is put forward
for the first time, it's inevitable to have some
shortcomings. It needs further studies and improvement.
