Bank has been ranked first in Profitability and second in overall rating among Public Sector Banks by the Financial Express and Ernst & Young survey.

Bank’S performance has been good in 2010-11 with the Bank doing better than other Nationalised Banks In the profitability parameters and is Number one In Return on Assets (R.A), Second in Cost income ratio, Gross NPA% and Provision Coverage ratio.

Aided by buoyant growth in the economy, Bank crossed yet another milestone with overall Business crossing 180,000 Crores mark. Bank attained a business level of $181,530 Crores. Deposits crossed the $100,000 Crores mark to reach $105,804 core. Deposits grew by $17,576 Crores at 20 per Cent.

Bank's Credit grew by $13,068 Crores at 21 per cent to $75,726 Crores With regard to the financials, the Operating Profit Of Bank has improved to $3292 Crores, while Net Profit Increased to $1714 cores growing by 10.23 per cent.
AWARDS AND ACCOLADES Bank’s performance won recognition and several coveted awards were conferred in the current year t00, as in the past. The ranking of Indian bank got up from 17 in 2010 to 15 in 2011. The possible reasons for the increment may be attributed to the following points A front runner in specialised banking • 97 Forex Authorised branches inclusive of 1 Specialised Overseas Branch at Chennai exclusively for handling forex transactions arising out of Export, Import, Remittances and Non Resident Indian business • 62 Special SME Branches extending finance exclusively to SSI units Leadership in Rural Development • Pioneer in introducing Self Help Groups and Financial Inclusion Project in the country • Award winner for Excellence in Agricultural Lending from Honourable Union Minister for Finance • Best Performer Award for Micro-Finance activities in Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Pondicherry from NABARD
• Established 7 specialized exclusive Microfinance branches called "Microsate" across the country to cater the needs of urban poor through SHG (Self Help Group)/JLG (Joint Liability Group) concepts • A special window for Micro finance viz., Micro Credit Kendra are functioning in 44 Rural/Semi Urban branches • Harnessing ICT (Information and Communication Technology) for Rural Development and Inclusive Banking • Provision of technical assistance and project reports in Agriculture to entrepreneurs through Agricultural Consultancy & Technical Services (ACTS)
