Rendezvous 12, the annual Alumni-fresher meet of IIM Indore scales new heights!!
The annual alumni-fresher meet of Indian Institute of Management Indore, Rendezvous was held on 26th May, 2012 in six cities across the country: Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai. The event is aimed at fostering interactions between the incoming batch, the current batch and the vast alumni base of the institute and is held every year in the last week of May.
Stressing on the importance of Rendezvous, Aravind Ganesan, the Secretary of Alumni Committee, IIM Indore said, “The difference between an IIM and other institutes is peer learning and the Alumni network. Rendezvous provide students and Alumni, networking opportunities and also gives the incoming batch a perspective of the corporate world and also valuable insights about the life at the institute.”
This year, Rendezvous scaled new heights, with more than 60% increase in the alumni turnout. Despite the busy schedules of the corporate world, around 120 alumni turned up for the event. Mumbai had the highest turnout of over 150, which also included more than 60 alumni. The overall turnout in the six cities was roughly close to 400.
Rendezvous provided a good opportunity to the incoming batch to interact with the participants of the current batch who helped them get to know the institute better. Questions were asked pertaining to the academic rigour, the extra-curricular activities, faculty, placements, sports, clubs and committees etc.
The alumni too were excited to learn about the new happenings at the institute, be it the newly-formed Sports Complex or the Guinness World Record earned, for the World’s largest pencil mosaic. In Hyderabad, 2 alumni were from the 2004 batch, from the old IIM Indore campus. They were impressed by the growth shown by the Institute in the past few years.
One of the participants of the incoming batch who attended Rendezvous in Bengaluru said, “The seniors were helpful and the enthusiasm shown by them was truly exciting and motivating.” If one chooses to go by this year’s feedback, then it’s needless to say that next year’s Rendezvous is touted to be even bigger and better.
