Symfony + Doctrine Performance engineer (Project with long term potential)

We're on the lookout for a seasoned PHP Symfony + Doctrine specialist to help us optimise slow data retrieval queries and bring responses under 1 second.

We’re currently tackling a performance-focused project involving heavy queries (10+ tables, 100k+ rows), Doctrine entities, and normalization using group annotations. The goal is to Dramatically improve how quickly and efficiently data is served to users and lay the groundwork for future scalability.

We seek:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Symfony and Doctrine, with large datasets.

  • Knows how to structure and fine-tune Doctrine for performance.

You will work with our CTO

We see this project as a chance to get to know each other — and potentially work together long-term in a part-time, flexible capacity.

It could be ideal if you're a specialist or already have a structured position that allows for external engagements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Optimize Doctrine ORM queries and normalization techniques

  • Collaborate with our CTO and dev team on performance improvements

  • Solve real-world data bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues

  • Bring industry best practices to the table
