As part of Brandt’s Payments Scrum Team, the Business Analyst (BA) plays a critical role in bridging complex financial workflows and technology solutions. This role leads the requirements gathering and analysis efforts to develop business requirements documents and compose actionable user stories. This position supports the delivery of secure, high-volume payment processing capabilities that comply with PCI standards, ensure accurate financial reporting, and meet the needs of both agency partners and end users.

The selected candidate will have skills and experience consistent with a Staff II or Senior I level within Brandt’s job architecture. The starting compensation range is $85,000–$95,000, with the final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities
- Payments Domain Analysis (Manages Complexity, Tech Savvy, Decision Quality):
- Elicit, analyze, and document payment-related requirements involving payment gateways, transaction processors, refund workflows, reconciliation, and ledger controls.
- Understand and articulate end-to-end payment flows — from authorization through settlement and reporting — to ensure completeness and compliance.
- Collaborate with developers and QA to validate calculations, accounting impacts, and integration accuracy across systems.
- Agile Collaboration (Collaborates, Action Oriented, Ensures Accountability):
- Partner closely with the Product Manager and Product Owner to refine epics and user stories that align with payment platform strategy.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and release planning to ensure payment features are accurately represented and prioritized.
- Maintain and evolve documentation of payment use cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Documentation & Translation (Communicates Effectively, Ensures Accountability):
- Develop and maintain business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, process maps, and data flow diagrams for payment-related functionality.
- Translate technical details into business language for stakeholders and business requirements into clear specifications for engineers.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance (Instills Trust, Ensures Accountability):
- Validate system behavior aligns with compliance standards such as PCI DSS and agency reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with QA to define test cases, verify acceptance criteria, and confirm payment functionality accuracy before release.
- Continuous Improvement (Nimble Learning, Being Resilient):
- Monitor product enhancements and evolving fintech capabilities to recommend improvements to transaction efficiency, reconciliation automation, and reporting transparency.
- Document and share lessons learned to refine BA practices within the Payments Scrum Team.
- 3–6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role in financial software, payment processing, or transaction-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of payment life cycles (authorization, capture, refund, chargeback, reconciliation).
- Experience documenting business requirements, writing detailed user stories, and managing acceptance criteria within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Familiarity with payment gateways, merchant account management, and financial reporting or general ledger systems.
- Experience supporting integrations with external vendors, APIs and payment gateways.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, including gap analysis, root cause analysis, and process mapping.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical perspectives.
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and organizational skills in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
