Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP), headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia,[3] is the second-largest retailer of automotive replacement parts and accessories in the United States.[citation needed] AAP was founded in 1932 and had 2008 sales of approx. $5.1B. AAP operates 3,540 stores in 40 US states and employs over 51,000 Team Members across all operations.
In 2005, Advance Auto Parts purchased Autopart International, Inc. which operates 202 stores along the Atlantic Seaboard.

In 1929 the founders of the Pep Boys opened Advance Stores, LLC., with two stores in Roanoke and one in Lynchburg, Virginia. On April 29, 1932, Arthur Taubman purchased Advance Stores. He promptly closed the second store in Roanoke, which was located only three blocks from the first.
The first major expansion of Advance Auto Parts was in 1998 when the company acquired the remaining operations of Western Auto, an auto parts and general store retailer. Most of the Western Auto operations had been taken over by Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1987.
In April 2001, Advance Auto Parts acquired Carport Auto Parts, a regional retail chain with 29 stores in Alabama and Mississippi. On November 28, Advance acquired 671 Discount Auto Parts, Inc., a regional auto parts chain in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Louisiana. Upon completion of this merger, Advance Auto Parts became a publicly traded company, listed as a common stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AAP. The year ended with 2,484 stores in 38 states.
In July 2002, Advance Auto Parts received bankruptcy court approval to acquire 57 Trak Auto Parts Stores in northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and eastern Maryland.
Advance now operates over 3,500 locations in 40 states including Puerto Rico & the Virgin Islands using the following branded names: Advance Auto Parts, Advance Discount Auto Parts, and Western Auto (Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands).[citation needed]
Also, in 2010 Advance Auto Parts announced a deal with Monster Jam to become the title sponsor. The company sponsors a truck on the circuit called the Advance Auto Parts Grinder.


SUMMARY
• This position requires an individual with solid, demonstrable knowledge in Software Quality Assurance and testing field, with the ability and desire to further his/her skills by learning testing tools and environments as required.
• S/he will be expected to demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• S/he will be expected to demonstrate sound knowledge of testing principles, quality assurance methods and regression testing.
• S/he will be expected to demonstrate a strong initiative to learn, collaborate, be proactive in acquiring quality assurance knowledge and skills, taking on new assignments and extending his/her knowledge.
• S/he will be expected to take on project assignments by understanding requirements, designing test strategies, acquiring test data, configuring test environments, documenting test scenarios, independently testing code, demonstrating accurate translations of requirements and reviewing results with peers and seniors.
• S/he will be expected to partner with the Programmers, Project Managers and Business Analysts to understand changing business demands, formulate solutions and create an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork.

Job Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the right candidate must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• The right candidate must have held the role of Quality Assurance Analyst-I in Software testing field or performed equivalent roles for at least 2 years.
• S/he will be expected to collaborate with senior QA Analysts to develop essential skills and knowledge, implement a learning schedule and demonstrate this knowledge by way of work product.
• S/he will be expected to engage with the Development teams to document requirements of the team’s products, including software functionality, integration points and platforms.
• S/he will be expected to work in conjunction with senior PAs to establish a testing strategy for applications.
• In conjunction with PAs and BAs, s/he will be expected to establish and implement effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of testing process.
• In conjunction with peers and BAs, s/he will be expected to assist with the development of the team’s policies, procedures, and tools.
• S/he will be expected to engage in projects in the following phase(s):
Execution:
o Collaborate with the PM to understand requirements of code functionality.
o Translate requirements to testing scenarios and strategy.
o Include security compliance considerations throughout the test strategy development.
• S/he will be expected to maintain an updated repository of reference documents to support project work and to prepare necessary documentation for Change Management Process.
• S/he will be expected to lead discussions, present solutions and strategies to peers, Project Managers and Resource Managers.
• S/he will be expected to mentor junior peers as required.

Beneficial Experience:
• Retail Point of Sale
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Experience with requirements gathering tools (case studies).
• Understanding/experience of structured programming writing SQL queries

TRAVEL
Occasional minimal overnight travel might be required. Valid Driver’s License required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field or equivalent work experience required.
• Proven experience to work under minimal supervision
• Proven experience to communicate with business users and technical staff.
• Proven experience at leadership and coaching skills in a team-development situation.
• Proven experience to work in a project-driven environment with short/medium schedules.
• Proven experience to work in high-expectation situations providing leadership and collaboration to reach a solution.
• Proven experience at handling multiple assignments and using strong prioritization skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence such as emails and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of Sr. Management, managers and customers via email, phone calls or presentations.
• Ability to represent his/her area in status meetings with Development Managers, senior IT or Project Managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
• Ability to understand and interpret budgets and accruals.

REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems (identify probable cause with hard facts and data, investigate resolution and demonstrate success of solution) and mentor the Systems Managers in industry standard methods.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in procedural or diagram form and implement them as standard procedures.
