Pseudo-Theocracy in India

We can’t do anything to help out the harappans now. They had a theocratic form of governance which was so rigid that despite seeing technological , military and economic development of their allies they adamantly inhibited the inculcation of that in their methodology. The rest is as they say, tragic History. Barbarians at gates flung around their sharp axes and the harrapan shrapnel could do little to avoid being bludgeoned.

Gandhi gave life to the term Ram-Rajya , laying the foundation for a theocratic from of government in Bharatvrshya ; the home of heroes and pasture of demons. Where demi-gods are supposedly born every Yug/millenium to exorcise the demons and rid the world of adharma/ injustitice and restore dharma consequentially. The country which taught the world the meaning of spirituality and penance. The home of Jainism and Buddhism. The cradle of morality long before Bentham,Mills or Kant took their first steps. Their writings once under the lens are seen as mere mirages of the grand scheme of things encapsulated in the Vedic literature and other shastras.

But somewhere down the lines someone saw a hoop and jumped through it. Religion and politics became so self indulged that they seemed and still do in most of the semi-urban and rural areas as an Uroboros; crawling in a loop and joining fangs at both ends.

What was once the land of tranquility ,envisioned by Gandhiji ; now lay soaked in red in the wake of communal violence. One of such epic proportions that the communities still maintain status quo to avoid a relapse. The mothers caution the children to join the pseudo-cults that in turn creates and furthers the prejudice petted by the parents to their offsprings. The cycle goes on and on.

Advani’s rath yatra spews more bodies than casualties in Iraq but it is a Democracy and apparently he has the right to go around blowing people’s head off figuratively. Some say doing what you like is freedom and liking what you do is happiness. But they go in circles having both cake and brioche still the guillotine shies away from their necks.

At dogma’s funeral morality did rejoice. Yet as categorical as morality may seem to be on paper , it is still consequential in its essence. The need of morality itself is consequentiality; to feel better than the beast eating by and peeing on the light pole outside

In the context of modern India, the term "pseudo-theocracy" can be used to describe a scenario where religious influence, particularly that of the majority Hindu population, begins to permeate the secular fabric of the state. India, officially a secular republic, upholds the principle of separation between religion and state, but in practice, this boundary is often blurred. The rise of Hindu nationalist movements in recent decades has led to a more pronounced role of religious rhetoric and symbolism in political discourse. This has sometimes resulted in policies and legislation that favor Hindu cultural norms and values, potentially marginalizing minority religious groups. For instance, issues such as the implementation of a uniform civil code, the ban on cow slaughter, and the construction of religious monuments in public spaces have been points of contention, reflecting the tension between maintaining a secular state and responding to the religious sentiments of the majority. Critics argue that this trend towards a more religiously influenced governance model undermines the constitutional commitment to secularism and equality, while proponents see it as a natural expression of India's cultural heritage. The dynamic interplay between these perspectives continues to shape India's political landscape, raising important questions about the balance between religious freedom and the secular ethos of the nation.
