This project is the result of combination of ideas, suggestions and combination of many people. As you know any accomplishment requires the efforts of many people. This project work is synergistic products of many minds. So, we take the opportunity to thank all those who helped during our training period and because of whom this project has been completed successfully. We are deeply indebted to K.S. SCHOOL OF BUISENESS MANAGEMENT for the support and opportunity that it has provided us to enhance our inner abilities. We are also thankful to Dr. SARLA ACHUTHAN (THE DIRECTOR OF K.S.) because of this golden opportunity is given to us. We are also very thankful to “MS. SHILPA GHODE” and all other faculty members who guide us. She has given immense support and guidance to us in development of this project and motivation to keep us motivating towards. We highly indebted to MR. JAYENDRA K. SHETH –the owner of the firm JYOTI AGARBATTI for providing us this golden opportunity and hence to our abilities. This essence of project preparation is to gain some practical knowledge and apply theories that we have learnt.
that,
“LET THE CHILD LEARN BY DOING”These are the words most of the successful persons. It is said “EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST TEACHER”.
In any case, the lessons we learn from other sources are not as through, perfect a permanent as the one, we receive from our personal experience. “PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE LEADS A MAN TOWARDS PERFECTION”. A source of a light can show the way in the darkness but to proceed on the path. We need a practical knowledge. Similarly “THEORETICAL SUPPORT TO COMPLETE A HUMAN BEING AND MAKE HIM WALK ON THE PATH OF SUCCESS.” This is the reason for preparing the project. Learning only can’t suffice a person and make him walk on path of success unless and until he is given practical knowledge. We are pleased to present our Present report on “INCENCE”. This project is a result of deep study, unity, hard work, proper guidance and teamwork.

“HISTORY OF INCENSE”
INCENSE, has been known to mankinds for centuries. First experience with the fire itself. It is unlikely primitive man would have missed that certain woods had most pleasing armors and indeed varying emotional effects. INCENSE artifacts, thousands of years old, have been found throughout the world, and appear to Bea part of virtually every culture. The connection between incense, religions, medicine, and shaman practices is obvious, it would be impossible to separate them, or say which preceded the other. Historically it is difficult to trace because it has always been largely an esoteric and oral tradition evolving in relation to both religion and medicine. There are many myths regarding INCENSE as well. Several modern sources include the use of "Salt Peter (Potassium Nitrate)" in making incense. INCENSE has appeared in many forms: ? Raw woods. ? Chopped herbs. ? Pastes. ? Powders. ? Liquids. ? Oils. What most of us think of as INCENSE today is Joss-sticks OR Cones. Cones as we know them were an invention of the JAPANESE and introduced at the world’s fair in CHICAGO in the late 1800’s. We can’t say, at this time, when the joss-stick or masala INCENSE 1st appeared. We do know that it was brought to CHINA by BUDDHIST MONK’S around 200ce.
HERBAL INCENSE is blended primarily for effect. Scent is the secondary consideration in many cases, but in ALL cases the scent is designed for the burn. Many natural INCENSE ingredients have almost AROMA until they are heated. Notably, aloes woods as well as many other resins have little or no AROMA until they are smoldered over the INCENSE fire. INCENSE and herbals go hand-in-hand, and the oldest sources regarding herbalism and INCENSE is the INDIAN Vedas. The primary references are in the ATHAR-VAVEDA and the Rig-Veda. This is commonly considered 1st phase of Ayurveda and deals with the subject in a more magical and religious approach to healing. Examination of early Vedic texts indicates that the herbalists or healers were a 2nd tier of Hindu priest that emerged out of the agrarian areas. They appear to assimilate their knowledge of herbalists, or healers were a 2nd tier Hindu priest that emerged out of the agrarian areas. They appear to assimilate their knowledge of herbalism with the rituals and beliefs of the orthodox or “SACRIFICIAL” priests. However, they remained 2 distinct classes and were scorned in the letter days of this phase by the sacrificial priests who considered them uncleaned bcoz of their association and medical treatment of all classes of people. Around 200bce. They were excluded by law from participating in sacred rites. Even before this, medical priests had begun associating with wondering mendicants and ascetics who were renouncing sacrificial rites and orthodoxy, and among this were Buddhist or bhikkhus.
Pali sources indicate that the buddhis were the principals which this emerging physicians organised, developed and disseminated their emerging art. This begins the classical phases of Ayurveda and the great healer. Atreya emerges among other at the medical university at TAXILA. Among his students were JIVAKU (Buddha’s physician). Later, brahmanization of certain medical amends the hetrodox prectices in light of a more orthodox view, and buddhis medicines appears to split with ayurveda. From this point, INCENSE involves in both traditions in association with medicines & herbal remedies, and becomes even more a closely gardened secret passed down primarily in the oral tradition and apprenticeship.
