To me, the deal appears to be ill-timed. Tata Indica & Nano - there's no synergy with luxury brand JLR.
Of course, the acquisition is in-line with Tata strategy to go global (acquisition of Tetley / Corus etc).

In fact, if you look at post-merger financial reports, you'll find Tata Motor's balance sheet taking an adverse hit. There is no significant turnaround for JLR.
To those who ask for more time, please study any of Mittal's (or now, Arcelor Mittal's) steel plant takeovers - these guys turn around a sick unit within 6 to 12 months.

Overall a bad buy unless you are thinking real long term (in which time-frame nobody knows what will happen).
