• INTRODUCTION & MEANING • TYPES OF PRODUCTION • TYPES OF MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENTS • LAYOUT • DISPOSAL OF HOSPITAL WASTE • DOCUMENTS RELATED TO PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
INTRODUCTION
• Production plays a very vital role in any organization.
• Production is a process which is directly related to conversion of inputs into output.
• It is a decision making process relating to activities of production process.
MEANING
• Production means the creation of goods and services. • It is done to satisfy human wants.
Types of Production
Intermittent Production System
INTERMITTENT
• Intermittent means something that starts and stops at irregular intervals. • This system is very flexible. The Types of Intermittent Production system include:
• Job Production: Job production means manufacture of products to meet specific customer requirement of special order. • Batch Production: Batch production occurs when many similar items are produced together.
JOB PRODUCTION EXAMPLE:
1. Construction of road.
2. Hairdresser.
3. Tailoring.
4. Painting.
5. Bridge.
BATCH PRODUCTION EXAMPLE:
1. Cricket Bat manufacture.
2. Bakery product.
3. Clothing product.
4. Medicines & Pharmacy product.
5. Pen production
BAKERY PRODUCT
• Baking is a food cooking method that uses prolonged dry heat by convection, rather than by thermal radiation, normally in an oven, but also in hot ashes, or on hot stones. • Nowadays, Baking is done by machines in large factories. Production is now industrialiazed.
CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION SYSTEM
• Continuous production is a flow production used to manufacture without interruption. • It is also called as Continuous flow process.
The Types of Continuous production system include:
• Mass Production
• Process Production
• Assembly Line Production
MASS PRODUCTION
• Mass production means manufacturing of one or two product on a large scale.
Mass Production Example:
1. Soft drink 2. Chocolate
PROCESS PRODUCTION
• Process production involves a series of processes in which raw materials go through.
Process Production Example:
1. Sugar Extraction 2. Beer Manufacturing
Assembly Line Production
• Assembly line production is a kind of production in which product is produced by assembling or joining various parts to it.
Assembly Line Production Example:
1. Cars Manufacturing
2. Furniture Manufacturing
Furniture Manufacturing Industry Overview
• Nowadays, most pieces of furniture are industrially made rather than the human hand.
• The machines can produce considerably larger amounts of furniture at a lower cost.
• It can be made from many materials, including metal, plastic, and wood.
LAYOUT
Meaning • Plant layout is next plant location. • Layout means an arrangement of facilities in a particular production unit. • Plant layout also includes the arrangement purpose and physical facilities within the factory promises. Definition “A Plant Layout is an arrangement of facilities & services in the plant.’’ - Samuel Eilon.
TYPES OF LAYOUT
Line or Product Combined Process or Fundamental Cellular Static
LAYOUT OF RELIANCE OIL REFINERY
MATERIAL HANDLING
• This is major activity in production process. • Material handling should be quick & economical. • Suitable equipments should be used extensively for economic transportation of materials. Examples of Material Handling Equipment:
1. Conveyor Belt
2. Bridge Crane
CONVEYOR BELT
• Conveyor belt consist of two or more pulleys with a continuous loop of material. • One or both of the pulleys are powered, moving the the material on the belt forward. • Belt conveyor are the most commonly used powered conveyor as they are the most versatile & least expensive.
BRIGDE CRANE
• A bridge crane runway on an elevated runway system along the length of a factory & provide three axis of hook motion. • Both single & double girder overhead travelling bridge crane designs allow very precise hook positioning and gentle load placement.
DISPOSAL OF HOSPITAL WASTE
Introduction • Waste is generated in health care facilities & included general waste, sharp, blood, body part & chemical, pharmaceutical & medical device & radioactive materials. • Poor management of health care waste may expose health care personnel waste handlers & the community to infectious agents, toxic materials & an increased risk of injury. • There are two types of wastes.
TYPES OF WASTE
Non medical Waste
• General or non-medical waste poses no additional risk of injury or infection to staff, to patients, to visitors, or to the community at large. Medical Waste
• Infectious Waste • Anatomic Waste • Sharp Waste • Chemical Waste • Pharmaceutical Waste • Gene toxic Waste
TECHNIQUE OF DISPOSAL OF WASTE
There are two types of techniques such as Non-Burn & Burn techniques. Non-Burn Technique • Non-burn technique is a community waste, collecting system. It’s the disposal of general or non hazardous waste. Burn Technique • Incineration of solid medical waste Incinerating is the best option for solid waste disposal, since the high temperature destroys microorganisms and reduces the amount of waste.
DOCUMENTS RELATED TO PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Introduction • If you are contracting and using a limited company as your payment structure you will need to raise invoices for the services you provide. • This article explains how to prepare one with an example, together with links to invoice templates in Word and Excel format.
