Sonata :

Hyundai took a major step to becoming a full-line automotive importer/distributor in 1989 with the introduction of its midsize sedan, the Sonata. This roomy, powerful, front-wheel-drive sedan expanded Hyundai's appeal to more mature, family-oriented buyers. It also offered current Excel owners an opportunity to move up within the Hyundai product line.

In 1995, the Sonata was completely redesigned. It incorporated state-of-the-art technology that moved it up the scale in the midsize sedan segment. In 1999, the third-generation Sonata was introduced with the company's first all-aluminium V6 engine, double wishbone front suspension and side air bags. For 2002, the Sonata has been revised with new exterior styling and an available 2.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and four-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual shift control.

Accent :

In 1995, after 10 years in the U.S. market, the Excel was replaced by the all-new subcompact Accent. With the Accent, Hyundai offered customers high-tech sophistication and features, but still at an entry-level price. For model year 2000 the Accent was redesigned and offers buyers even more value and quality. For the 2001 model year, Accent GS and GL models were upgraded to the powerful1.6-liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder engine. For 2002, the GS and GL models are fitted with air conditioning as standard equipment.

HYUNDAI SANTRO

The first Santro-999cc

Now thanks to Hyundai, the average car buyer can think again about purchasing a small yet stylish vehicle which almost has all the luxuries touted by mid-sized and luxury cars. Hyundai's Santro is a 999cc car which automatically makes it more powerful than its target rival Maruti 800 which enjoys mass appeal followed only by the Zen (1000cc).

However, it’s in pricing where Hyundai hope to capture the imaginations of every car enthusiast since even the basic Santro comes with air conditioning. Priced between Rs 299,000 and Rs 369,000 for its three variations, the Santro looks like good value for money. Plus, thanks to Shahrukh Khan's endorsement, Santro also promises to deliver the goods.

While power and torque outputs had increased by 7 bhp and 0.7 kgms over the older 999 CC mill (taking outputs to 62 bhp at 5500 rpm and 9.1 kgms at 4000 rpm respectively), the distributor-less electricals also pledged an improvement in overall fuel efficiency. The braking circuit had also been beefed up with a larger 8-inch booster, allowing a two-timing right foot to kick sand in the face of the newly pepped-up engine.
