Pregnancy or Education?

Should schoolgirls who become pregnant and have a baby be allowed to remain in education, or should they be thrown out of school when their pregnancy becomes known?

There is no point in throwing the girl out of the school when she becomes pregnant.Schools should support her and give her life when the society cheated her.Why should the school throw her out?I don't want that to happen. When politicians can rule our country with gory crime record why should a girl be thrown out of the school?

Although there is no specific regulation that says a pregnant girl should be expelled, school authorities define pregnancy as bad behaviour and consequently sets a bad example for others.

Lack of specialised facilities and trauma have been cited as the reasons why such students should be kept away from the rest. Even after delivery, they are not allowed back to the same school.

The education ministry spokesman, Aggrey Kibenge, and the assistant commissioner for comprehensive education, Robinson Nsumba-Lyazi, believe pregnancy while at school is a case of indiscipline.

College students can also continue the education during pregnancy remotely. Many colleges offer online courses now. This is an ideal way to continue going to school while pregnant. You can finish out your current semester on campus and plan to continue subsequent semesters online. This is an ideal plan for your third trimester and when your baby is first born.

There are plenty of alternatives for high school students to continue their education during pregnancy if they can no longer attend their regular school. First and foremost, they should find out from their guidance counselor whether or not there is a school for pregnant teens and teen mothers nearby. Schools like this allow pregnant teens to go to school while pregnant and even after birth if they choose to parent their child.

Pregnsncy is a part of life, and that should not stop her from gaining an education. If she does not have an education she will not be able to support her child/ or give it proper upbringing. So by removing her from school you are actually taking away opportunities for the child.
