Potter Mania-good or bad?

I think this is the right time to discuss about this topic.Even before the release of Potter books almost all the news channels esp Indian news channels have a 1-hr time slot dedicated for the magical boy(Harry).

I agree that this book has increased the reading habit among the children.Though it has increased the reading habit among the people,the most important point to note is that the book is just a fictional story and all the happenings are not real.We are creating too much hype about Harry Potter.Is it good or Bad?children and even to some extent adults have gone crazy about Harry Potter which is evident from the sale of the recently released Harry Potter book.The sales is still heading north.

The craziness have gone to the extent of saving Harry Potter through the web portals or SMS.

Is this Harry Potter Mania good?

as long as people arnt burning buildings and plating bombs to destroy potter ...it shall all be fine...very fine
 
y shud potter mania b bad?? der is nuthin wrong wid al ages of ppl lovin da books bcoz personally i wud agree dat da books r very well written n its somethni different & appealing 2 al people n its gr8 2 hv des books around n der is no prob wid potter mania wen v can have ppl goin mad 4 so many other silly things 2 thn y nt dis!
 
Its interesting to see adults liniing up for a copy of Harry Potter book. This definitely proves Magic does not have any age limit. Anyway, Its nice to see people queing for a book rather than a XBOX.

Well it was said in brand equity the other day that nething that becomes big becomes a mania. Infact i think that very true.

Before i discuss the effect i would like to point out something - the charm of reading brought will leave as soon as the book series ends. What I would like to point out that this success will push in a trend of having more fantasy themed books bringing in loads of books but i do think that falling standards would also appear.

One more thing look at it as a success of marketing. I think the fact that people were told that harry potter is going to die was a great marketing tactic - Bcoz if it was told openly that harry would die - the desire would have been lesser. People are more interested coz we wanted to know how he died, y he died and smart people tried to cash in on it.

I think that Potter mania isnt overly bad simply because as the series is over it will fade out in time pushed up a little when (if) the next 2 books are made into films. Plus it takes u into a world which is different from the practical world - thats a very nice thing to have once in a while.

good for many kids in developin countries who can use it as a medium of learning,bcs these fantasy based heroes generate a lot of goodness and motivation to do good deeds
