It's the sad and inevitable end of education for many girl students of a Delhi government school, where the teacher was found making pornographic films using the students as subjects.
For many of the impoverished parents sending their daughters to school in the first place was a big step.
But with this disturbing discovery, many parents in the locality are debating if they should send their children back to class, bringing to a premature end, all their dreams of having a better life.
Aspirations, to one-day escape the narrow by lanes, convinced even the most traditional families to send their daughters to school and keep them there even after they hit puberty, a milestone that often signals the end of education for teenage girls in government schools.
But today every house echoes with the resignation that perhaps there is no escaping this mohalla after all. The school that was within walking distance is suddenly off-limits.
Mubina Begum says no daughter of hers will attend that school or any other school now.
Her 13-year-old was among the students who was invited to Usha Khurana's house for private tuitions but was denied permission by her mother.
''I was asked to go for tuitions. I asked my mother but she refused,'' said a student.
Teacher, Usha Khurana has been arrested on charges of immoral trafficking.
Khurana allegedly drugged children at her house and let strangers touch them.
Those who escaped are also dealing with severe consequences like their only chance at education.
''I want to study, but my parents are not letting me go to school anymore,'' said Zahira, student.
Tasleema says she has no choice but to send her daughter back to the same government school but she does so with her heart in her mouth.
''Private schools are very expensive, I have no choice but to send my daughter here,'' said Tasleema, parent.
Fear and skepticism has gripped the mind of the families that got to this school.
While most parents want their children to drop out there are some who feel that education for a girl child should not be stopped.
Committee to submit report
Meanwhile, a two member committee set up to inquire into the alleged involvement of a lady teacher in blackmailing her school students into prostitution is expected to submit its report to the Education Minister on Saturday.
According to sources the report recommends the termination of service of the teacher.
The committee has also reportedly recommended that one teacher be appointed in every school to look at sexual harassment cases and that every district should have a district education officer to look into such case.
