Pol-Tricks, IIM Kozhikode[/b]

Recently the Economics, Politics and Social Sciences Group of Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) conducted Pol-Tricks, a cartoon competition on recent political incidents. This online competition saw wide spread participation from the student community all over the nation.

From cartoon on the sliding rupee to the policy paralysis at the centre in the last two years to the Indian presidential elections, this unique had it all. Of the 72 teams in the prelims from which the top 15 moved on to the second round which was held on Facebook. In a break from traditional Facebook based competition the winners of this event won’t be decided on the number of likes but on the discussion generated on the issues at hand based on the cartoons. Also judging the event is Mr. Khan Irfan. He has had a 20-year long career in cartoons with renowned names such as Dainik Bhaskar, Times Group, ET, FT, The Asian Age, The Indian Express, and many more.

The discussion that ensued on the Facebook page was lively and full of insights clearly showing how actively aware the current generation is about issues and how strongly they feel about them. The winners of the competition Vinay Kumar and Abhinav Verma from Great Lakes Institute of Management captured user interest with their engaging and thought provoking cartoon on the crashing Rupee value.
