PGPEX VLUM students' International Study Visit to Japan

Please note that the International Study Visit to Japan for the VLFM program has been scheduled from February 16 to 26, 2013. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Indian Ambassador to Japan and Mr. Doi Michi, Former Japanese Ambassador to India have kindly agreed to be present on 24th February, 2013 during presentations by the PGPEX-VLM students on completion of their study visit to : (a) Asakusa Metro Exploration; (b) Hitachi Central Research Laboratory; (c) Interaction with Researchers; (d) Mitsui Chemicals; (e) Hino Motors; (f) Sony Archives; (g) Toyota Factory; and (h)Toyota Museum.

Prof. Vidyanand Jha of IIM Calcutta and Prof. Venkatesh Balasubramanian of IIT Madras have accompanied the 33 students of PGPEX-VLM program jointly conducted by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur & IIT Madras and 21 participants of VLFM Opportunity A Program conducted by CII.

International Study Visit to Japan as invitee of Government of Japan is an integral part of the VLFM program. The visit is scheduled from February 16 to 26, 2013. The main objectives of the visit are :

1. learn directly from contemporary Japanese Production Systems;

2. learn from the manufacturing oriented Japanese Society: concepts, philosophy and tools that characterize Japanese Manufacturing from view-points of application, not just in firms, but also, in daily life; and

3. get an outsider's perception of Indian Manufacturing industry and practices.
