Was it right to send Pathan back?​

It is unprecedented in Indian cricket history -- a player being sent back in the middle of a tour, not because of injury but for loss of form.


When you consider that this same player started the year with a first over hat-trick in Multan against Pakistan, the magnitude of the slide -- and the seriousness of the move to send Irfan Pathan back to India to play at the domestic level -- is apparent.
Some say it is the right move; others say it could shatter the player's confidence.

What is your take? Could this opportunity, to work on his bowling away from the spotlight, be the making of Pathan? Or are we in danger of shattering the morale of a promising player?

Yes, I think it's right decision...........

He's not getting swing to the ball.............even versus Invitational Natal XI..........his spell was - 11-0-71-1............

it's gud for him for his future career to study the line n length in Ranji Trophy games for Baroda...........coz giving drinks to teammates will not help him to bowl better......... so i'm agree with the decision taken by BCCI, Chappel n Dravid........

Irfan Pathan is the imp. member of our world cup 2007squad , he must be there.....so he will get some practice sessions while playing for Baroda in their last 2 ranji trophy games..............

Pathan, in fact, doesn’t have to look far for inspiration. Teammate Zaheer Khan spent almost a year away from the team, but not in wilderness. The time utilised in honing his skills and working on his fitness in county cricket, as Zaheer himself has admitted, has given a fresh impetus to the bowler’s career.

Captain Statement -

“He went through a similar period in the home series against Pakistan (in 2005). But he went to England and played a lot of county cricket (for Middlesex), bowled a lot of overs. I think that was a sort of catalyst in bringing him back to the sort of form and rhythm that he’s capable of bowling,” said Dravid. “Keeping in mind that he needs a lot of bowling in match situations, we’ve taken this decision.”
