EPC News: 26th July, 2013: India: New Delhi: As a helping aid to Pakistan in meeting the energy crunches, India is actively seeking opportunities to export natural gas to the Pakistan through a pipeline from Punjab. State run GAIL India has come forward to lay the 110 km pipeline from Jalandhar to Wagah border, which will be passing through Amritsar.
Disclosing the information, BC Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL said, “LNG will be imported at ports in Gujarat and will be moved through GAIL’s existing pipeline network till Jalandhar. It will then be moved through the said line network.”
As per the officially disclosed information, Pakistan currently is willing to take 1-1.5 MT of LNG. However, the issues over pricing and other commercial negotiations are still being discussed among the two nations. “The export is techno-commercially viable and we can execute this order with the Indian government’s approval and with the finalization of commercial agreement,” added Tripathi.
