Hi People,
How are you all? At some point you will need to pack miniatures for storage or shipping. These general tips will help with any packing task. Before you begin:

*Where is the miniature going? - Changes in temperature/humidity can destroy some miniatures. If the miniature is going to a humid climate, it will need to be protected against humidity in transit.

*What material is the miniature made of? - Resins and plastics need different packaging from collector porcelain dolls in costume.

*How long will it stay in the packing? - If a miniature will be stored for some time in fluctuating temperatures, avoid plastic packaging.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 20 minutes
Here's How:

1.Have ready an area with packing supplies. These should include acid free tissue paper, Styrofoam peanuts, packing tape, masking tape, foam, sharpie pen and two sturdy boxes, one to hold the miniature in its initial packaging, one to hold the box the miniature will be packed in. Always use a double box system.

2.Fill openings with packing. If the miniature is hollow, fill the opening with acid free packing tissue or shredded Styrofoam peanuts (these are miniatures so the Styrofoam has to be miniaturized!)

3.Wrap each piece of the miniature separately. Use acid free tissue. Individual miniatures may need special treatment, for example dolls will need tissue under dresses to support the fabric of their costumes from crushing. Groups of tiny items can be placed individually in bubble wrap envelopes made by taping sections of bubble wrap into envelope pockets sized to fit the miniature. Tape the bubble wrap pockets closed once you are sure the contents are secure and will not shift.

4.Box every piece. Put each piece of the wrapped miniature into an appropriate sized box, if they are small enough, use sections of egg cartons inside a box. (only for temporary movement, egg cartons, plastic and cardboard, will affect the miniature). Fill around the tissue and bubble wrapped pieces with Styrofoam peanuts.

5.Double box. Place the initial box into a second box, filling the space between the outer and inner boxes with packing , either more peanuts, sealed inflated bags, or crumpled papers. The two box system is important as the outer packing materials can shift leaving loose miniatures vulnerable.

6.Add an address inside. Place a card with the recipients name and address on it inside the outer box.

7.Use packing tape to seal. Seal the large box with heavy duty packing tape across all open edges.

8.Mark the address with a sharpie. Clearly mark the address on the outside of the box with a sharpie. Check your postal regulations to make sure you position the writing correctly on the box, especially if the package is being sent to an international destination.

9. Insure breakables or valuable miniatures before posting them.

Do follow these tricks...............

Best Regards..............
