Organization > Fossilization > Institution

Organizations throughout the sketch of the timeline have fallen; because they became institutionalized. Institutions have this knack of fading away with no one to mark their grave-stones. Great movements become relics of the days old; to be told to a gathering of neighbors over for tea. But the worst part of this lot is when Inspiration becomes buried farther than the institution within the same graveyard.

The older an organization gets; the lesser space it provides for “The Gifted”……

“The Gifted” are a breed, found in abundance in our country; but never is their potential optimally utilized. If by any stroke of luck, they make it to a coveted organization; its tendency to calcify and fossilize talent once it has become an institution; chews them up from the inside and spits them out; as spineless as an earthworm.

These organizations become so engrossed with crafting policies , procedure , and conforming to Management manuals written for some foreign environment ; that they miss out on many subtle cues offered locally that can turn their fortunes around.

I have personally gone through this when I was working with a Colliery as an Intern. They had a lackluster inventory management system at one of their warehouses and were calling in for a system from Germany. I recommended an Indian company that was doing the same at 1/4th the price, and offered continued servicing and setup for 5 years. The outcome? ; I was reprimanded by my instructor (Who had been called)_ the next day for being out-of-bounds.

We need a Managerial mindset resembling the likes of someone [/i]who said this in the golden days of motors…….

I am looking for a lot of men with an infinite capacity for not knowing what can’t be done……
