• 1st oil discovery of independent India was done at – Nahorkatiya, Assam – 1953 – Moran, Assam – 1956 • Incorporated as Joint Sector Company on 18 February, 1959 – 2/3rd Owned by Assam Oil Company / Burmah Oil Company – 1/3rd Owned by Government of India • Became a Public Sector Undertaking, GOI on 14 October, 1981

EXPLORATION TRANSPORTATION
• OIL is engaged in
– – – – – Exploration for hydrocarbons. Development & Production of crude oil & natural gas. Transportation of crude oil to refineries. Supply of gas to consumers. Extraction and bottling of LPG.
PRODUCTION DOWNSTREAM
• Company presently produces
– Over 3.2 MMTPA (million tons per annum) of crude oil – Over 5 MMSCMD (million std cubic meter per day) of Natural Gas – Over 50,000 Tones of LPG annually

?Domestic: 30 E&P blocks ?International: Egypt, Gabon, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Timor Leste, Venezuela and Yemen
