I just had my vivas on 20th man its an experience to reckon with... i will go on about my experience from the start... my topic was dabbawallas so it fell in to the general category so a professor had come to our college Mr. Telang.

my number was like way back i was no.23 and he like took atleast an average of 10-20 min per person so a long time to wait. as my friends who gave their vivas told me everything he had asked about the project like what kind of questions does he ask. my friends ne mujhe PROTSAHAN diya saying the professor is like easy going and in a nice mood. so i was relieved.. but wen the 22 number was called out i realized that i was next.. so i just got tensed up. i got butterflies in my stomach.:tape: . (every1 gets them) then my number came.. i thought what kind of questions would he ask because i was unable to think abt the type of question that can be asked...

so as i sat in front of him...(by the way our vivas were taken in our auditorium and the desk was at the centre of the main stage... so that makes you more tense) then he poped the question.. just like that... "Tell me something abt dabbawallas in short"and there i went on and on :blah: and on abt everything.. i gave him some dead air and did not speak for a second but he did not ask any question so again i started describing the dabbawallas and the management practices implemented like logistics etc..(He is chief moderator of logistics) well !!! he didnt ask any question abt logistic which i thought he would ask...only this question thats all... he just as usual like every other professor praised abt the content and the quality and the good topic i chose thats all and asked me to leave (or live, may be i was feelingso much wanting to shoot myself)!!!

hehe newayz overall it was good ... two points to remember not to take tension ... binDaAs BoL:argue: .. and dont get hyper which i got and start chewing words...lol

Man u are really lucky.. i had a talk with this girl from chinai college.. they were asked abt odd 20 questions.. believe it or not :twitch:

my proj. topic is "organisational development". its an HR topic
i will tell u abt. my entire experience. okie firstly d day b4 d viva it was really very scary. n it was scary coz i was 2 over confident, i thot dat i hav made d proj. so no probs. n till d day of viva i had not read d proj. but then ven i read it, it was really simple. so all those of u who hav made d proj. its gona b really simple 4 u.
then came d day of viva my viva was suppsd 2 b at 9:30 i got up at 7 n was gettin ready till 9:30, dressed up all formally 4m top 2 bottom. then later on i was stuck with d traffic n reached coll. at 10:30. i was so scared dat my no.might hav been calld up. but then ven i reachd d viva for general category n mktg. had not even started. i got time n went thru. d entire proj. by d time d finance ppl. came n every1 was givin a diff. experience. sum ver scary sum ver nice.
then strtd d general category viva. i was so scared d 1st person who went in had a really bad experience n so i got really scared. they call ppl. randomly actually but for my category thankfully she calld in roll. no.wise. d viva mam b4 callin n.e.1 used 2 take 5-10mins 2 read d proj. n then she used 2 call ppl. my no. was 7th. but dat mam ven she reachd d 5th no. she took a break. then lateron she strtd again. my frnd who had already given her viva b4 me, she askd me similar qns. n ven i went in d viva mam askd d same qn. so luckily i knew wat 2 answer n all. dat viva mam askd me all qns except 4m d proj. she askd all personal qns. like y m planin 2 take HR, then y i made this proj., wat did i learn 4m this etc.etc. she mite hav askd sum15-20 qns in all. lateron she even askd me whether m satisfied with my performance. but all 2gether it was really nic.
all d viva moderators who had cum 2 r coll. ver co-ord. of other colleges. d one dat had cum for general (ie. is my category )was really nice, my frnds told me mktg 1 was really bad, finance was dumb n others was least bothered types. d one who had cum 4 general category was really frndly n nice.

so guys all d best 4 ur viva, n waitin 2 hear abt ur experiences 2.

here r certain things i guess u guys shud look on 2:

1. dress formally but decently
2. b nice n polite
3. show in ur mannerisms
4. dont 4get 2 greet d moderator
5. n introduce urself b4 startin
6. nite b4 d viva sleep well
7. b well versed with ur proj.
8. prepare 4 basic qns like y this topic, wat hav u learnt, wat r d limitations, ur suggestions 4 d co's u hav visited etc.
9. dont make d misteke of thinkin dat d moderator is a fool n ur smart
10. dont go on others reaction, coz ur viva will b diff. than others
11. answer 2 d pt.
12. n never argue with d moderator
13. if u dont know sumthin plz. ask them whether u can refer ur proj. n answer
14. n if u really dunno n.e.thin, then tell them dat u dunno, ven u had prepared d proj. u knew it but now u cant recollect, they appreaciate honesty
15. dont u dare 2 giv n.e.crap 2 them, by givin running answers.
16. giv ur viva with utmost honesty.

My Viva Experience.... Here it goes..

It was supposed to start at 9.00 .. it started at 9.30 .

The person who was first on the VIVA list got corned ( If you are the first person , expect the same :p ) . She was asked questions for 45 minutes. Each page of her project was flipped and she was asked questions on hard core marketing ( Proj category being marketing )

The next few went on easy.. 10 - 15 mins per person.

So then came my turn, I went inside the class and sat in front of Prof. Shubha Rao.

My project was on Internet Marketing . Here goes the Q & A .

Q : Internet marketing, Is it the future ??

A : Ofcourse yes, Internet has been the biggest thing of the decade and will continue to be so. With Microsoft multimedia PC's comming in, Tv's will cease existence . People will be able to see All the World Tv channels on the PC with a easy to use software and a high speed internet. Even MTNL promises to offer Video on demand in short span of time. There has been inventions on high speed connections as fast as 1GBPS invented by a scientist in which the connection will be established by Big ballon servers in space. These technologies will definately change the face of marketing and Internet marketing is the next big thing.

Q : So what do u think of security of your information ?
A : The information that I submit to a website will be used for my benifit only. I will be presented with various offers and .. ( Interupted )

Q : No no, I am talking about Personal information, email etc
A : Well, that is why the cyber laws have been formulated and people are made more and more aware about ... ( Interupted)

Q : Are cyber laws in place and proper ?
A : Not right now, but the Cyber crime Dp and the govt is taking actions in formation of faultless laws .

Q : Isnt google Inc becoming notorious these days? With the google map feature, showing pics of secret and strategic locations ?
A : Yes it is becoming notorious, But after the .. the.. the (forgot the right word for a while ) .. the objections of President abdul kalam azad, they seem to have rectified the mistake.

Q : So what do you think about channels. Wont it affect their working ?
A : ( Thinking he is talking about Tv channels ) . No the working of the channels will remain the same as it used to be.. only it will be on internet now .

Q : What about inventory then ?
A : ( Realising he was talking about Distribution channels and not Tv channels ) . Oh well, the working wil be similar, only more products will be sold over the internet day by day, distribution channels will syndicate with this process.

Q : What is the market of the products sold in USA through internet ?
A : About 3000 Cr Rs *( Bluffed. NOTE : NEVER BLUFF )

Prof : I read in Philip kotler that it is 3000 billion USD.

A : ( Me blames the 3000 Cr rs figure on a website saying it might have given faulty data, ** Clever me ** )

Q : What is difference between customisation and customeristation !!
A : Customisation is where the product is made according to specific needs of one customer. The customer specifies the features etc...
Customerisation is where the product is still customised according to the needs of a group of individuals.

Q : What is difference between customerisation and promerisation ??
A : Customerisation same as above. Promerisation is where the customer also plays a part of producer by telling the specifics of how to produce the product he needs and every aspect of it .

Q : Do you think the internet future is bright and the employment line will be hampered ?
A : Not at all, now there will be more of internet generated jobs !!

1 suggestion from my side. If you are the first person on the List of VIVA , better know the project In and Out . The first few have to face the music, later on the prof. looses the enthu and it sails smoothly later on.

we were called in college at 7.30 in the college for our vivas:pop2: and like all my class mates were a bit nervous. Then came my class teacher to announce the list 1st came the general list then came the marketing list and guess what my name was not there :blah:. and my project was on Rural marketing. Then came the economic list and my name was towards the end of that list so guys i was the last one to go:high5: for a min i was happy then the 1st girl was called in it took her 15min then when she came out we surrounded her and asked her what type of ? is he asking then the list of girls were called ........................................................................................... then came my number in the end i.e at 12:15pm then i was called out so i recooleted all tips given by kartik so b4 entering the hall i asked "MAY I COME IN SIR" Then i wished him "GOOD AFTERNOON" he asked me to sit down i said "Thankyou Sir"
then the process of?ing started
He said "RURAL MARKETING"
Q: WHY RURAL MARKETING?
ANS: SIR to market in urban areas is comparatively easy but to market in rural areas in a tough job.
Q: Ias a company ask you to sell my raban glasses in rural market how will u do it
Ans: I will take a survey. H ow many ppl are intrested in buying how many of them of the purchasing power. accordingly i will give the fig to the company and if its profit making i will suggest the company to enter the market

Q: Suppose i am a farmer sell ur Raban Glasses to me?
Ans: Sir firstly i will talk in their Local language.

Tellme neha whats the diff b/w Selling and marketing

Ans Sir selling is when u are actually selling the product
and marketing is when u educate ur coustemers about the usage advantages and disadvantages of the product.

Yeah I did.

BTW he's not a Prof. for Logistics in my college......rather, he teaches Materials Management (a sub-topic of Logistics) in Sem 3 (or was it Sem 4??)

I'd highly recommend his lecture for anyone suffering from insomnia.....
