It seems the era of DVDs have gone today, as the youth today prefer watching downloaded movies. Ways to download or stream movies are proliferating via gaming consoles and set-top boxes and TV manufacturers are also introducing ways for consumers to get streaming content on to their bigger screens in the corner of the living room.

Even manufacturers backing the Blue-ray format for high-definition movies are hedging their bets by introducing Blue-ray players that can also show internet video. Shops are opening digital delivery service which has deals with the main movie studios.

The flash drives & portable hard disks are getting cheaper day by day which is the main reason for the decline in the use of DVD / CD's. Like the floppies were replaced by CD / DVD's, they ought to be replaced by better options. With the gradual increase in broadband bandwidth in future it's possible that we might be using online storage.

I think after DVDs, its time for portable hard-rives as some of the areas people don't get proper speed of internet and so may face a proble of buffering. A hard-rive would help them get a number of movies that can be at least good for them for atleast a month.
