The*key*indices*ended*on*a*negative*note*after*remaining*choppy*and*volatile*throughout*the*session.*The*Sensex*closed*at*16,740*down*70*points*after*hitting*a*high*of*16,938*and*a*low*of*16,706.*The*Nifty*shut*at*4,970*down*26*points.*Buying*was*seen*in*auto,*IT*and*pharma*stocks*while*selling*continued*in*reality,*banking,*telecom,*oil*&*gas*and*select*metal*stocks.*The*broader*indices*underperformed*the*benchmark*indices;*the*BSE*Midcap*Index*fell*1.8%*and*Smallcap*Index*was*down*1.3%.*The*market*breadth*was*negative*and*total*traded*turnover*was*at*Rs*1,05,933*cr.*The*Oct*nifty*future*ended*flat*and*Nov*nifty*future*ended*with*11*points*premium.*
