The Sensex closed at 16,042 up 107 points after trading in the range of 16,094 – 15,862. The Nifty rose 32 points to settle at 4,792. Among the broader indices - the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.44% each. Buying interest was seen in technology, cement, pharma and banking stocks. The breadth was mixed and the volumes were low at Rs 85,059.
