The Sensex wiped out 555 points and touched a low of 15,805 to close below 16K at 15,896 down 156 points. The Nifty erased 165 points from its day's high of 4,853 and touched a low of 4688 to closed at 4,711 down 49 points or 0.8%. Selling pressure was seen in oil & gas, telecom, power, capital goods, FMCG and select technology stocks while buying was seen in auto, cement, select banking and metal stocks which capped the losses to some extent. Volumes remained higher for the fourth day in a row at Rs 1,04,704 cr. The Sensex slips 5.5% this week and closed below 16K.
