The Sensex closed at 15,405 down 491 points or 3.09%, after seeing a day's low of 15,330. The Nifty plunged 148 points or 3.14% to settle at 4564 after seeing an intraday low of 4538. All the sectoral indices ended in the red. The BSE Realty Index crashed 9%. Metal, oil & gas, power, technology and FMCG stocks cracked and fell 3-6% each. The Nov Nifty future ended with 25 points discount at 4,539.
