The markets consolidated throughout the day and ended marginally in red. All the major sectoral indices ended on a very flat note. The Sensex closed at 17,909 down 28 points after trading in the range of 17978-17,858. Nifty was at 5,378 down 7 points after making an intraday high of 5,399.
