The markets opened with an upside gap but gave off from the day's high to end in red. All the major sectoral indices ended in red. The Sensex closed at 17,938 down 47 points after trading in the range of 18,167-17,897. Nifty was at 5,386 down 14 points after making an intraday high of 5,453.
