Newspapers v/s Internet..

Earlier people use to only rely on the newspapers for getting acquainted with the news around the world...but with increasing no. of internet users ...Is the Internet becoming a much more popular source of information...

obviously internet is more looked upto these days but the data in news papers are sometimes more reliable than that on the net..for instance we may get certain data on Wikipedia which cannot be relied on bcuz the users edit the data:confused: ,but in newspapers the data can be relied on bcuz they frisk d matter and only then they print it..(THIS CAN'T BE SAID ABOUT TIMES OF INDIA):tape2:

This is completely subjective...people prefer what is convenient to them

India has approximately 5000 newspapers which are subscribed by about 60 million homes...while there are 4 million computers with about 7 million internet users...however internet reach is growing exponentialy in India..so cant realy predict how the future is going to be..

But this is my strong opinion nothing can beat Print media news...the custom is do deeply routed in Indians...this might differ from one country to another.

as far as educated rural India goes..internet has still not reached the remote areas,,,so most of the people are still using the newspapers..
moreover newspaper is in our culture...the morning tea doesn't taste that good if we dont have the newspaper with us...

but the internet is growing too fast,,,with millions of sites..we can access any kind of information any time....
as and when the reach of the internet increases,,it will surely overtake the newspapers..

'html would be mightier than sword' :)

With the advent of more news sites on the internet, the flow of information has been greatly enhanced. Some news paper owners feel that the ''free'' internet news is contributing to poor sales. But whatever the case, news is faster on thenet.

There are more than 600 billion web pages today
That means more than 100 web pages for each individual on the planet

I read the news only ONLINE
I watch the news only on TV

Save Trees :P

internet by far has become d most important search tool. google is the god of all information now across all ages.

The internet ofcourse as one can read as per his convenience....and one can gather more information if required

It is in the back of the mind, that hard copies are good rather than soft copies.
Few days back, I subscribed for Business world subscription, I had option of soft copies and hard copies, but I intended for Hard Copies. Why? Because I will get to recover that much money from raddiwala  Jokes apart!! As rightly mentioned by Kalpana, Traditional way.
I think it is between the size and content. Newspaper are at least 1 – 1.5 ft on an average with multiple pages. I think monitors are 21-inch on an average. Newspaper are lighter on pockets, whereas for internet we have to pay at least Rs10/- for 15-30 minutes.
Advertisements in newspapers are more appealing than on internet. Customer reach also plays important part. Nowadays, we have hi tech mobile phones, where we can access internet. Even normal mobile phones can also access to News Alert facilities. But then, content is less, but get updates very soon. Here, for newspaper we have to wait for another morning to read on the updates, which would be past tense.
I think it will be tough fight ahead for Print vs internet vs News channels.

I prefer newspaper for news coz the more u read the more u get local news. But it is rarely that we find the localised news on websites.

For habitual newspaper readers internet can never be a replacement.Ppl read newspapers as a whole while internet is used for selective news.

internet may however may not be able to provide with TRUE news as compared to newspaper..u cannot trust internet all the time...it may also mislead you..ofcourse this depends totally on the kind of site yo are visiting..

Internet Of course is far better than Newspapers but cant let Newspapers far behind Internet Either; The Rural people...Not Evrybdy Have access To Internet in a country like India...But For Others Whu can afford Internet,Its the Best Choice To Keep Up With Almost Evrything Happening In This World

in india news papers are very much acceptable that people have a mindset that they need newspaper in the morning they would not like to go and sit in front of monitor to read news as it also harms our eyes we do rely on newspapers

Internet is extensively being used by youth n older generation still prefers having newspaper in hands.....
Also in many rural areas where internet is not available newspaper is still preferred choive of people

But def in comin years internet will competely overtake newspapers...

if only news is concerned then most ppl go for newspaper and the ultra busy who have net access and and want lighting news have the net. even the newsapaers have their websites.. economictimes.com , mint..etc etc.. so read it from anywhere as per ur convenience..its your choice

it will be unfair to compare news papers with internet, internet is new age media, you do not have to wait for the news paper in morning, you do not have to depend on one source.
