ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF WAIKATO :
University committed to providing their students with world-class, research-driven teaching, in a dynamic learning environment with excellent facilities. The quality of their staff, teaching and research are manifest across all disciplines. They have achieved major successes in New Zealand's Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards. And in the first national evaluation of university research quality (PBRF), Waikato had 28 subjects assessed and was ranked first or first equal in seven of them (25%). These are:

World-class Academy of Performing Arts:
The WEL Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art performing arts complex, which provides our students with world-class learning facilities for music, theatre, dance, Maori and other cultural performing arts.
The Academy is a significant asset to the City of Hamilton and the Waikato region. It will play a major role in the development of the performing arts within the community and it will serve the needs of local, national and international arts organizations.
Uni Rec Centre
The Uni Rec Centre is a great place to get involved in sport and leisure activities and offers affordable membership. It provides 40 exercise classes per week, weight equipment, a cardio area, sports hall for basketball and volleyball, glass backed squash courts, netball and tennis courts, and extensive playing fields.
Park-like Campus Grounds
At 68 hectares, our Hamilton campus is the largest in New Zealand, with extensive sports fields and numerous quiet walkways and picnic spots.
Sport and Leisure Facilities
At the University of Waikato we have a large number of clubs based on our campus. Well established clubs include the University Rugby Club, Unicol Soccer, Campus Netball and the University Hockey Club. There are many more, ranging from cultural clubs to traditional sports, thrill seekers and also clubs for enthusiasts in almost every area of interest.

The University of Waikato is one of New Zealand's most modern and innovative universities, based in the beautiful river city of Hamilton, with a satellite campus in Tauranga.
They are home to more than 13,000 students including close to 2,200 international students from over 70 countries.
