Earth encompasses us and provides the momentum to our life. We are not merely living on earth, but we are the integral part of the mother earth. We have become s much addicted to modern civilization with all its negative traits that we are forgetting this sacred relation- ship. We are not in touch with the natural cycles and the forces of nature and consequently become the victim of natural disasters like Tsunami, Floods, Earthquakes etc. we need to apprehend that when nature is destroyed , our own existence is at stake.

We must realize that earth’s natural resources need to be preserved, conserved and regenerated.

Again there is a technological advancement which definitely has profound bearing on all aspects of the production of goods and services. But ultimately this advanced technologies in many cases create tremendous pressure on our eco system and do irrecoverable damage to its balance. Corporate houses while generating wealth must take the initiative to promote sustainable development

NATURAL RESOURCES

Mother earth is a treasure house of various resources. There are basically four resources available:

Water:
Water is one of the natural resources without which we, the individuals, all animate and inanimate objects cannot survive. Water is life. It carries minerals and nutrients which we require for our survival and growth. It distributes them to each cell of our body, maintains body temperature, helps to remove toxins and other waste products and thus make us healthy. While using water you should remember that this resources is to be used with care.

Land:
It is also a limited natural resource. Due to high growth of population , the land we are having in this world is quite insufficient to fulfill the needs of the human beings. We require more land and we cannot expand this limited resource. Hence , we should use it effectively without any wastage.

Air:
It is another resource that is essential for our survival and growth. We require oxygen that is provided by air. By innovating new equipments and technologies to make our life more comfortable we are ultimately polluting this resource which will be harmful to us.

Vegetation:
Trees and plants play a vital role to protect us, to protect our mother earth. They provide food, shelter and clothes to all of us directly or indirectly. They also purify the earth by absorbing carbon dioxide and some other hazardous gases.
2
Plants and vegetation also attract the tourist and thus a major source of revenue for the country.
Thus it is easily understood that all the resources are very important for us and therefore we must take care of them..

Contribution of nature in building human wealth:

Indian culture and tradition teaches us to acquire the inner qualities like dhairya(patience), perseverance, audarya(generosity), tyag(sacrifice), sahanshilata(tolerance), integrity, ahimsa(non-injury), dhrti(fortitude), dana(charity), ekbhava(harmony), yajna(spirit of sacrifice) etc. We can attain all the satvik qualities within us we will have he greatest treasure house within us, which is much more valuable than money.

If we have he money, but no inner peace within us, what is the use of that wealth? Too much turmoil and mental disharmony lead o sleepless nights. All these are the direct consequences of modern civilization where conflict and chaos have become part and parcel of day-to-day life. Natural environment influences societal values to a great extent.

Let us take some of the examples of the natural objects and realize what we can learn each from them.

 Sun:
Sun provides light and energy o everyone equally and helps us to survive and grow. Imagine if sun would have not been there, we would have submerged in total darkness. It teaches us to enlighten others with the knowledge or light we are having.

3
 Trees :
Trees fulfill all our physiological needs like food, clothing and shelter, although they are ever ready to sacrifice for our sake, they do no want anything in lieu of that. We, the human beings can learn and develop this selfless, service-oriented attitude from them.

 Big trees:
Big trees protect he small trees during heavy storm, rain and snowfall. From nature e can learn to protect our siblings from dangers and complications in life.

 Great mountains :
Great mountains remain at he same place for thousands of years bearing all he obstacles. We can learn to have patience and forbearance and also how to withstand firmly and boldly in front of all obstacles.

 Sea :
Sea never takes away anything. It returns everything on its shore. We can learn from her that life is only for giving

to others and not to demand anything in lieu of that.

 Sky :
Sky teaches us to broaden our mind. The moon provides us soothing light at night and brings peace in our mind.

 River Ganga:
The symbol of purity cleanses the dirt of everyone who takes bath in he ganga and is ready to be full of dirt and filth for the sake of others. It indicates everyone should aim to become a better person, transforming oneself from tamasik to satvik personality.

The whole nature serves us with a spirit of sacrifice or yajna spirit. ‘Work is worship’ for them. If we, the human beings can acquire all these values and qualities in our life, we will be called the enlightened personalities, love and respected by others and he world would be a better place to live in, full of serenity, harmony and peace.

Indian concepts of management believe that all the human beings, animate and inanimate objects are part of supreme soul, Param Brahma. So we are interrelated and interconnected. Nature knows hi and she is ever-ready to serve her fellow-beings. But unfortunately we he human beings have forgotten that. Now, the time has come to give deep probing thought in this regard and realize the true essence of life and behave accordingly.
