? Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. ? It¶s in the Himalayas in Asia. ? It¶s 8,848 meters (29,028 feet) ? It takes 5 days to climb up and 5 days to climb down. 2

? It was named after Sir George Everest. ? He was a British engineer. ? He was the first person to record the location and height of the mountain.

Things You Need to Climb Mt. Everest
? Open or closed oxygen system ? Crampon ? Portable Kerosene stove ? Goggles and ice axe ? Rope, special boots, tents, first aid kits ? Knives/spikes etc.

? In January, it can drop -600 C (-760 F) ? In July, it¶s -190 C (-20F). ? In storms, 10 feet of snow falls.
