Mobiles- A Boon Or A Curse-II

history-of-mobiles.jpg

On the move, and want to check your e-mail, do it or need to catch that T.V special and just can’t stay at home to watch it, save it. Record lectures also. The mobile: has done away with the traditional TVs and cameras- all have been made reductant your calendar, wallet, notepad, alarm clock, address book, watch, radio, gaming devices are all now in your back pocket. Many service providers have made it possible for the common man to own the- once thought of luxury commodity- the mobile phone.

But then it is not all the fun and the games! Some people may feel this gadget to be a curse and don’t like the sight of people walking down the road, on the train, in the car or wherever they go with a mobile in their hand, or perhaps sitting holding a medium sized piece of plastic to their cars talking away seemingly to themselves has led some people to believe that the alien invasion has in fact begun.

The advocates of mobiles as a curse harp on the medical issue which states that a prolonged use can lead to a high risk of cancer in the brain. Neurosciences have proven that the brain continues to develop throughout childhood and the teenage years. Continuous exposure to the electromagnetic waves emitted by these mobiles can lead the brain cells to loose their plasticity which leads to reduced learning, aggressive behavior and memory loss. Cell phone’s use is not allowed in I.C.U’s and Aircrafts as the micro-waves transmitted by them may interfere with the electronically calibrated equipment. Is the use of cell phones really more important than the lives of human beings?

I haven’t seen any cell phone being sold with a moral’s guide. People talking on the cell phone increases the chances of drive-by-theft and accidents. Every mobile user has complained of pestering tele-marketing calls pitching a home loan or selling any other service. The time and value of human life is being under rated in today’s GenY world.

Even though the mobile usage ahs been cursed with the advent of nonsense MMS’s, the unavoidable wrong numbers and constant invasion of ones privacy, everyone I mean EVERYONE from the had- rickshaw puller to the president of our country sports a mobile phone. Mobile phones were created to fulfill the needs of the traveler, now it has become necessity and without which the world would seem so distant and disconnected, no matter what price they have to pay for it.

The inventor of the mobile might have thought that it would create a few ripples in the lake downtown, but would have never imagined that it would take the world by storm.
