VINIDHAN-The Corporate Restructuring Event
What is Corporate Restructuring?
In some cases the prospects of the firm may be too bleak to continue with the ongoing operations and an exit strategy may be the most appropriate alternative. However there are other cases where in underperforming or distressed company can return to acceptable levels of profitability, solvency, liquidity and cash flows by corporate restructuring. Corporate restructuring means making a significant modification to the debt, operations or structure of a company. In simple words, it involves debt restructuring, cost cutting and reducing size through sale of assets.
About the event
A case on a financially sick would be given; the teams ought to figure out the most effective corporate restructuring strategy. Students can participate in a maximum of three per team (from the same institute)
Round1
Synopsis of the restructuring proposal in not more than 2 pages (excluding the cover page), the proposal need to be submitted in the following format:
Font: Times New Roman
Font Size: 12
Line Spacing: 1.15
Synopsis should comprise of the following measures (indicative but not exhaustive):
Cost Cutting
Debt Restructuring
Changes in the Management
Downsizing of assets
Expected time of turnaround
Financial Extracts for 3-5 years
Round 2:
Shortlisted teams from round one would be required to present their proposal in front of esteemed panel of judges at K.J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research.
Presentation Duration: 20 + 5 (20 min for presentation and 5 min for rebuttal)
No of Slides: Maximum of 20 slides (excluding the title slide)
Guidelines for the final round:
The final presentation should contain all the financial statements (Income Statement, Cash flows, Balance Sheet, Debt Repayment Schedule).
The title slide should contain name of all participants along with the institute name
The ppt along with the supporting excel sheets should be mailed
RULES:
Team should consist of at most 3 members.
There can be multiple entries from the same B-School.
One person cannot be the member of more than one team.

PRIZES:
Winner: Rs. 30000
Runners up: Rs. 20000
All the participants of the teams selected for the second round will get certificates of participation.
IMPORTANT DATES :

Submission of First round: 5th February, 2012, 23:59 hrs.
Round 1 Result: 8th February, 2012
