All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea ~ Napolean Bonaparte
An Idea not only changes your life, but can also transform it. When Ideas converge, the BEST evolves! Ideas help us to build creativity. Come, witness and participate in Mélange 2012 – Where Ideas Converge.
The world leaders are looking for a solution for the ever increasing problem of pollution and global warming but the awareness level among the general public regarding green way of living is very low. We as MBA students should be the change that can pave the path for a green world. At organization level we can drive in changes which can have a substantial effect in driving down the harmful effects of global warming. Hence, this year we thought of coming up with a strategy based game which has a dual objective of increasing the awareness level regarding green technologies and making the management student understand the importance of carbon credits and the carbon trading concepts.
Round 1 –Case Study Details:
A case on one of the environmental related issues will be uploaded on the website. The participants will be given a window of 5 days to analyse and submit their case analysis. The candidates are free to use any of the information available on internet but they are expected to answer the question in context with the case provided. Further details will be provided in the case. DOWNLOAD THE CASE STUDY
Round 2 - On-Campus round:
From round 1, 5 teams will be shortlisted and will be called on campus to play the event named “The Green Trade”. The teams will be representing the BRICS (Brazil ,Russia, India, China, South Africa) countries. The concept is to simulate a new world economic forum headed by BRICS whose major objective is not only to boost their economic growth but also keep a check on the pollution level of their respective country. The campus round will be held in a 3 stage process. The stages are:
1) Bidding Round: As a start, each team will have a certain amount of cash outlay given to them. Then each team will need to bid for certain industries that will be available on the block for sale.
2) Production Scheduling: After the bidding process, each team will be given a minimum production schedule for each of the industries that they own. The objective would be to maximize production without crossing the CO2 emission cap.
3) Carbon Trading: Once the production scheduling is done, the CO2 emission of each country will be calculated. The countries with excess of CO2 emission (above the cap level) will be required to buy carbon credits from the market where countries producing less than the CO2 emission cap can sell the difference as carbon credits.
RULES:
Team should consist of at most 2 members.
Team members can be either from same institute or from different institutes.
There can be multiple entries from the same B-School.
One person cannot be the member of more than one team.
The Team should register for this event through our website - www.melange-simsr.com on or before 25/01/2012, 11:59:59 PM
