Melange 2012 presents STRATINNOVA - THE STRATEGY EVENTS

Beaming with ideas but don?t know where to start from? Love to discuss problems, look at them from different angles and provide solutions, but still feel that a suitable platform is eluding? Well if that is the case, then this is that platform for you. We, at SIMSR, will help you re-look your strategies and think out of the box to come up with some innovative ideas and, what?s more, even get rewarded for it. We will pit you against the best B-schools in the country through Stratinnova. An event comprising of Case Study, Video Making and a Print AD Competition where it is all about being „Bang on Strategies, Bang on Innovation?.

This competition will help you know more about Mercury Travels, their present strategies, problems being faced and how you can help them. Your one chance to showcase your ideas to the world and enjoy the benefits that come with it! So, put on your thinking caps and battle it out for some exciting prizes and some equally fun times ahead. Read on to know more about the competition and registration details.

  • Case Study Competition

Round 1:

  • What are you supposed to give?

A snapshot of ideas/strategies proposed to solve the questions in the case study. It should clearly mention the idea/strategy and the justification of the strategy used.

Please remember:

The case will be uploaded on 30th January 2012.( Please keep checking for further details )

The answers to the questions are to be submitted as word document only. The document should not exceed 6-7 pages with Single Line spacing, having font size „12? and Font Style ?Calibri?

Creative renditions are not necessary and will not be judged.

A detailed Media plan is also not required and will not be judged.

Entries should be submitted on or before 5thFebruary 2012.

Entries should be mailed to [email protected] with the subject line: Stratinnova_TeamName_CollegeName - Eg.Stratinnova_Team1_SIMSR

Document to be submitted must be named as: "Stratinnova_TeamName_CollegeName" - Eg.Stratinnova_Team1_SIMSR

A shortlist of teams shall be arrived at by evaluating the case solutions received and these teams will proceed to round 2.

The shortlist shall be declared on 9th February 2012 and will be posted on the Melange website and communicated individually to the selected teams over email.

Parameters to judge the Round 1 entries:

Innovativeness& Feasibility of implementation of the “idea” and/ or “marketing approach/strategy”

The quality of Justification of the strategy used. This will be seen additionally in light of the competitor analysis done by your team.

Precision of answers to the questions provided in the end of case study.

Round 2:

Round 2 will be held at SIMSR, Mumbai on 17th, 18th February 2012 where the shortlisted teams from Round-1 will be called for a presentation of their ideas, followed by Q & A.

  • M-Travelogue– A Video Making Competition for Mercury Travels (Viral Marketing).

Can you create another „Kolaveri Di? for Mercury Travels?

FORMAT:

ROUND 1:

Design a Social Media Viral marketing Video for Mercury Travels.

The video can either be an originally shot video or it can be a compilation. Direct plagiarism will not be tolerated. Any existing ad, should not be copied in full and submitted. We are OK with you using certain parts of the video. If plagiarism is found, the video will be immediately disqualified.

The video should not have any rude, derogatory content and the maximum length of the video allowed is 2 minutes.

The video should start with a single slide containing name of the team, institute, and name and contact details of team members.

Please Note: Each Team can submit only one entry.

The subject of the mail should be in the format: M-Travelogue_TEAMNAME _COLLEGENAME

File name should be in the format: M-Travelogue_TEAMNAME_COLLEGENAME

5 entries shortlisted based on Round 1 will be put on the Consultancy@SIMSR Facebook page for further evaluation by the viewers.

The parameters to evaluate the entries would be

a. Creativity and innovation

b. Clarity and Conciseness of the message/communication

c. Consistency with the positioning and promotions of Mercury Travels

d. Social appeal of the video gauged by the number of likes for each of the entries

The final result would be declared on 18th February 2012. The best entry receives the prize money.

PRIZES: Cash prize Rs 3,000 to be won !

  • MAD (Mercury Travels Print Ad Competition)

MAD is a great platform where participants will exhibit their creativity and wit to market Mercury Travels in a form of Print Ad.

  • FORMAT :



ROUND 1:


A Single A4 size print ad (Landscape/ Portrait) is to be created.

The print ad can be either in black and white or color and must be submitted in .jpg/.jpeg format only.

A shortlist of 5 entries shall be arrived at by evaluating the ads received and these five teams will proceed to Round-2.

Round 2:

5 entries shortlisted based on Round 1 will be put on the Consultancy@SIMSR Facebook page for further evaluation by the viewers.

RULES:

The event is open to all B-school students.

A team should consist of minimum 2 students and at the most 3 students.

A team can submit only 1 entry in each category of events.

A participant can be part of only one team in each event category but can be in multiple teams for different event categories. For Eg. „B? can team up with „C? and „D? in the case study competition, but can form a different team with „E? and „F? for the „MAD? contest. In this case, „B? has to fill up the registration form again to register for MAD, with his new team name and details of his new team members.

Details of the team members should be mentioned only while applying for the competition. Personal details of the participants should not appear anywhere in the documents submitted, unless specified.

Participants must adhere to the timelines.

The decision of the panel of judges and the organizers regarding evaluation will be final and binding.
