This is an excerpt from the session on 'THE SOFTER SIDE OF CAT' delivered by Abhishek Thakore, an IIMB Alumnus at FLY( Forums for Youth ) conducted by CPLC at Bhaidas( Vile Parle) on 31st July 2009.
Abhishek Thakore, 23 years Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore alumnus, Founder Blue Ribbon (Youth NGO),Columnist for JAM and Life Positive Magazine, Corporate Trainer and Consultant.... alleviated graduates perception on tickets to IIM’s as he busted all these myths in a 20 minutes session...
Abhishek says there are three easy steps to get into IIMB.....
1)Take a flight to Bangalore
2)An auto to 5 Cross, Bannerghatta road
3)and then inside the IIMB Campus
....was the mind-boggling statement made by Abhishek Thakore which helped slacken the IIM aspirants among the audience. Undoubtedly you will land there only as a visitor and not as a student, Abhishek then commented comically. The conviction in Abhishek’s eyes and the attitude that he carries swiftly connected with the audiences the moment he took the dais. He opened his session with an action-packed presentation. The first slide displayed picture of an iceberg, Abhishek skilfully compared the upper portion of the iceberg with the struggle that an aspirant puts in his preparation, while the portion dipped in the water is the mental vigour that the aspirant employs during his preparation phase. Abhishek drew attention on the fact that, it’s the mental capacity of the person which drives the game. An aspirants needs to direct his psychological gears well to successfully get into his dream Institute, if the lower portion starts melting(which is the mental strength) the higher portion of the iceberg(hard effort for preparation) will certainly sink.
An aspirant must meticulously work upon the reasons for writing CAT. It has to be a mindful decision and the student must stand by it... Abhishek indicated, that you must start listing down the reasons you want to take- up CAT and emerge with a very strong motive which gives you a clarification and helps setting goal to perform.
The Aspirant should concentrate and improve their areas of expertise in his preparation, slogging aimlessly by knowing ten thousand formulas by rote is not the way out. Instead develop ways to solve a problem using different techniques, if one doesn’t work, you must be witty enough to crack it using another. This aptitude is developed with a continuous practice and sheer dedication, hence Abhishek very considerately advised the aspirants to sacrifice their short-term pleasures and pastimes for the long-run success.
Also Abhishek repeatedly advocated the audience that it’s the Management of your Emotional Quotient that helps you to conquest the battle. However there are certain matters on which human being have no holds, so those should be ignored and left unto god. Give your Best and on God Leave the rest....Abhishek concluded very modestly.:SugarwareZ-178:
