Yesterday, I met with a MD of a small organization regarding some discussion on his organization’s profile. While talking to him I asked him about the placement space for the MBA’s in his organization. I was shocked to hear when he clearly said that he recruits graduate candidates in place of MBA’s even if they are fresher and have no experience. I guessed that the reason can be salary but I was surprised when he said that salary is of no matter in his organization.
I was very keen to know the reason behind his approach because a small enterprise specially recruits MBA so that they can implement best strategies for organization’s growth and retention. But the reason given by him was also very strong. He said that “I have no problem to recruit the MBA’s for my organization and even I recruited them before with the thinking that they will help me for my organizational growth. As you know that my business is basically related to corporate selling and Whenever I recruited an MBA for my organization and sent them in the market to maintain and develop relationship, he/she leaved my job and recruited in my client’s organization. I am so upset with MBA’s that I can’t even afford them in very low package because of retention.”
You will laugh at this situation but it is very true now a days. Job switching is very much increasing in last 2 years and most organizations has now started to get sign of the employees on a bond of employment starting from 1 year to 3 years and if a employee leaves the job before this period he/she has to pay fine for this.
Many companies prefer fresher for their requirements because they are flexible in the job profile and they show eagerness and keenness in learning more than experienced students. But they also feel some type of fear about employee retention in their organization.
The question now emerges is that why Job Switching?
What can be the possible reasons for job switching?
How organizations can overcome this big issue?
If you find answers for these issues, please post in reply because I am still thinking about it from last night.
