It is, as long as you are not being abusive, rude or insensitive, these things also come in between the core of what you say, it only lessens the impact of your argument. I had a Economics teacher who had a pretty good hold of the subject but the way he used to be i.e. rude with students, affected him in the same manner, all the students started bunking his lectures and if didn't bunk didn't concentrate in the lecture and so, he lost a number of students due to this habit.
Of course, if you use eloquent language and all you are doing is beating around the bush, with no solid crux in what you say, people are going to see through all the glitter of your words and realize the hollowness of what you say pretty quickly.
